Barter trade in the Oosterhaven
Old warehouses adorn the quay of a harbour that is full of the most beautiful sailing, houseboats and recreational boats. It is perhaps one of the most idyllic spots in the city. A spot that we at Waarborg always keep an eye on with the thought: "If a nice opportunity presents itself there, we will grab it with both hands." We are talking about the Oosterkade in Groningen.
Three men, one passion
The opportunity that presented itself turned out to be extremely suitable for three enthusiastic professionals who are related to Waarborg. Three men with a peculiar passion for beautiful, special and unusual buildings decided to jointly purchase the property on the Oosterkade. The deal? A fantastic boathouse in exchange for the 'warehouse-like building' on the Oosterkade 4.
Idyllic artist entrance
A skate and water sports shop is located in the building on Oosterkade. The port office is also housed in the building, which, in addition to a main entrance on Oosterkade, also has an 'artist's entrance' on Lijnbaanstraat; a street that is just as idyllic as the harbor quay. The location is fantastic and the building is in a row of port properties that makes many real estate hearts beat faster.
Barter
The love for the building on the Oosterkade was so great that another love was exchanged for it; the boathouse that is located in the Oosterhaven. To get an idea of a 'boathouse', imagine the most literal variant you can think of; a house on a boat. You probably already have a pretty good idea of this beautiful, floating object. And although the boathouse provided a lot of happiness for ten years, the prospect of a beautiful building on one of the most beautiful quays in Groningen reduced the pain in the hearts of the three professionals. That prospect ensured that the boathouse has become the subject of a 'common' barter today.
Solid ground under your feet
Ten years ago, no fewer than 13 boathouses were made and sold. A number of them float and sail in Friesland, the Randmeren and Limburg, but the Zeeland landscape is also decorated with a number of the floating houses. With the sale of the boathouse on the Oosterkade, the three men (temporarily) set foot on land for good: it was the last boathouse that was still in their possession. Fortunately, the 'Homeship' remains available for rent. Perhaps the three professionals will rent their former boathouse again and enjoy the view of their jointly purchased property on the Oosterkade from the water.
When will the water beckon again for the real estate entrepreneurs? We'll see! Would you like to live in the boathouse and also view the beautiful building on the Oosterkade? The homeship can be rented via Airbnb and an absolute must for a romantic weekend floating on the water!
